April 4th is the first day of the last nine weeks. Students must read at least 25 books by the beginning of May in order to meet the 25 book Goal. Everyone made it to 21 for the third nine weeks, so it should not be too difficult. It is only 4 books. Report cards go home April 12th.
FCAT Reading and Math begins April 11th.

MATH, MATH, MATH, and MORE MATH

We are working hard on ARRAYS. We made arrays with partners in class and then discussed the many different arrays that we could make for numbers. We also learned that a factor pair can also be called a mathematical expression (WOW!!! SUPER BIG SMART SOUNDING MATH TERM). When we were looking at all of our arrays, we noticed that we had two very different groups, the first group had a number with only one factor pair/2 factors and the other group had a number with 2 or more factor pairs and more than 2 factors. We decided that we would call the first group of numbers, PRIME numbers and the other group of numbers would be called COMPOSITE numbers. We have been completing assignments on IXL and Destination Success that deal with Factors and Prime or Composite. We are also working towards memorizing our multiplication facts. We have completed our 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, and 11's. Each week we will work on a new number. You have three chances to pass a quiz and earn your portion of your ice cream sundae. Hopefully everyone is studying hard to memorize their facts. We will have an ice cream party for all of the kids who have mastered all of their facts. WOOHOO!!!!!
